Gilbert L. Lewis

Gilbert L. Lewis, age 79, of Iron River, MI, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Northstar Health System of Iron River. He was born August 25, 1935 in Bates Township, MI, the son of Lloyd and Josephine (Minnucci) Lewis. Gilbert attended the Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School with the Class of 1953. He was an Administrator in the Army National Guard for many years. Gilbert married the former Tomie Uezu on December 17, 1958, and the couple enjoyed 56 years together. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Iron River, the American Legion, and VFW. He enjoyed mechanic work. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Tomie; son Gilbert (Teri) Lewis of Kent, WA; grandsons, Jared, and Daniel Lewis; granddaughters, Samantha and Selina Lewis; nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Lewis, mother, Josephine Lewis-Skog, and step-father, Clarence Skog. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 17, 2014 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Graveside services will be held in Resthaven Cemetery in the spring.
