With a strong love for her family and a deep passion for her grandchildren"" Gladys L. Gilligan (nee Suppanz), 88, joined her husband Jerry N. Gilligan to celebrate with our Lord all his blessings shared on earth on July 11, 2007, in her home surrounded by her family. Following meetings by the rock when their chores were done, Gladys and Jerry wed on July 16th, 1936 in Crystal Falls, MI. They worked hard together and raised a large family in Laona, Suring, Newald, Popple River, Tipler and Iron River, MI. She will be remembered most for her hard working, good cooking, loving, caring ways. The love she shared with everyone in her life was unconditional! Her knitting was a true labor of love warming thousands of hands and hearts. She was born October 9, 1918 in Oconto County, Wisconsin, to Frank and Marie (Worska) Suppanz She held a variety of jobs but she found the most joy in caring for her family and home. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian, Michigan. She found eternal rest in her home with family at her side. She is survived by eleven children, Betty (Kenny) Mertens of Madison, WI; Mary (Mike) Kniess of Newald, WI; Pat (George) Graham of Trego, WI; Dot (Jim) Aschinger of Laona, WI; Nancy (Gene) O 'Brien of Janesville, WI; Jerry (Pat) of Long Lake, WI; Jon (Darlene)of Tipler, WI; Barbara (LaVern) Johnson of Iron River, MI ; Jim (Francie) of Laona, WI; and Mike (Sue) of Iron River, MI; and Jonel Calhoun of Laona, WI; two brothers, Lee Johnson of Kelly Lake, WI and Alfie Johnson of Suring, WI; 32 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; one brother, Harry; three sisters, Marie, Francis, and Mabel; and 2 grandchildren, Monica and Dennis. Funeral Services: Monday, July 16, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian, MI, with Rev Norman Clisch and Rev. Otto Sartorelli to concelebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Funeral arrangements by Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Gladys ' family would like to thank Allen and Dee from In-Home Health. Your constant loving care was greatly appreciated.
