Glenn R. Christensen

June 11, 1950 — June 6, 2023

Glenn R. Christensen, age 72, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born on June 11, 1950, in Stambaugh, MI, the son of the late Donald and Lorraine (Geegan) Christensen. He attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating from West Iron County with the Class of 1968. Glenn worked in the woods and drove log trucks most of his life. He enjoyed snowshoeing, hunting deer, trapping, spending time at his camp, raising chickens, and cutting firewood. He always had a fresh pot of coffee ready for his friends that would stop by daily. The picnic table in Glenn’s backyard was a spot where many cups of coffee were enjoyed, and many conversations were had with those friends and family. These conversations were mostly about firewood, old Chevelles, chainsaws, or the horses running through the field. In his younger days, Glenn was an accomplished horseman, meeting Gov. Romney at the state fair. He showed his horse Goldie at the fair and he had to haul water from Iron River to Escanaba because Goldie would not drink the water. Glenn was an affectionate father who looked forward to making firewood with his kids in the fall, but most important to him was spending time with his grandkids. Glenn is survived by his children, Richard (Jessica) Christensen of Iron River, MI, Andrea (Jeffrey) King of Iron River, MI, Addie (Matthew) Waterstradt of Green Bay, WI, Melissa (Rob) Wendt of Buise Creek, NC, Kelsie (Nick) Karnack of Iron River, MI and Emilie Christensen of Decorah, IA; brother, Jim Christensen of Iron River, MI; sister, Linda (Gary) Waligursky of Crystal Falls, MI; grandchildren, Alysa, and Erik Froblom, Will and Sophie Waterstradt, and Lucy and Eli Christensen, who affectionately called him “Grandpa Chickens”; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Private family services will be held. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Glenn R. Christensen, please visit our flower store.
