Gloria A. Millette

Gloria A. (Forsman) Millette, age 98, of Lawton, OK, formerly of Iron River, MI, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2019.  She was born on June 25, 1921 in Iron River, MI, the daughter of the late Andrew and Olga (Berg) Forsman.  Gloria attended the Iron River Schools, but left high school to raise her younger brothers.  She received her high school diploma in 1991, making a dream come true.  Gloria married Eli A. Millette on January 29, 1941 in Caspian, MI and made their home in the area.  The family moved to the Detroit area in 1961.  Eli preceded her in death.  She later moved to Lawton, OK.  While living in Iron River, she had been an active member of the First Lutheran Church and also a member of the Lutheran League, Bible school, Women’s groups, and funeral committee.  Gloria was a past member of the 20th Century Club and other service organizations.  She enjoyed stage plays, opera club, music, and was a published poet in her later years.  Gloria is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Jack) Cooper of Lawton, OK; grandsons, Jay Cooper of Stepherdstown, WV and Jeffrey (Sharlein) Cooper of Ft. Worth, TX; granddaughter, Susan (Robert Walker) Cooper, EdD of Wichita Falls, TX; great grandchildren, Alyssa, Justin, Jeremy, and Alex Cooper, Elizabeth Twamley, and Jennifer Cooper; 10 great grandchildren; and extended family and friends.   A graveside service will held on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 1:00pm at Resthaven Cemetery with Pastor Avery Carr to officiate.  To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Gloria A.
