Grace L. Tickanen

Grace L. Tickanen, age 90, of Iron River, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at the Iron River Care Center. She was born on January 28, 1932, in Stambaugh, MI, the daughter of the late Allan and Eleanor (Damitz) Gallup. She attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating with the class of 1949. Grace married Donald Tickanen on September 19, 1953, in Gaastra, MI. They celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary before he preceded her in death on July 10, 1997. She and Don owned and operated Iron River Floor Service for 30 years. Grace was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Iron River. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Grace also enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports and was an avid Packers fan. Grace is survived by her daughter, Karen (Tedd) Marheine of Iron River, MI; grandchildren, Shane (Alyssa) Marheine and Dr. Tricia (Kyle) Nelson; great grandchildren, Mason, Maddie, McKenzie Marheine and Brooks and Blaire Nelson; special friend, Michaeline Penkevich of Gaastra, MI: numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was also preceded in death by her son, Dr. Lane Tickanen; twin brother, Father Grant and brothers, Murray, Gerald, and Glenn; and sisters, Gladys Harkins, Diane Treado and an infant sister.
