Masuga Age 91 Caspian, MIDied Thursday, March 10. 2011 at Northstar Health System, Iron River, MI Born: March 15, 1919 in Oregrund, Sweden The daughter of the late Carl and Anna (Soderlund) Erickson moved to the United States from Sweden at an early age with her family and graduated from Stambaugh High School. Gunver married George Albert Masuga at St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian and the couple were lifelong residents of the area. They made their home in Caspian, raising three sons and two daughters, of whom they were very supportive. Their sons all followed in their father's footsteps, becoming carpenters. Their daughter Maggie taught second grade for 35 years at the West Iron County Schools and their daughter Carol was a missionary in Guatemala and received her doctorate in Sacred Theology from Pontficial University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome. Gunver was employed as accountant and secretary at Masuga Millworks, and was a very devoted housewife and mother. She was an active member of the Altar Society of the First Lutheran Church for many years and converted to Catholicism at the age of 83. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian. She was an avid player of bridge She was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1987 and also by her sister, Margaret Erickson. ""/p> She is survived by her sons; Dennis (Joyce) Masuga of Pittsburgh, PA Robert (Carol) Masuga of Marquette, MI George (Mary Beth) Masuga of Pittsburgh, PA Daughters, Carol Masuga of Caspian Maggie Masuga of Caspian Eleven grandchildren Seven great grandchildren ""/p> Visitation: Monday, March 14, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. followed by a Liturgical Prayer Service conducted at 7:30 p.m.. Funeral Service: Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian, with Rev. Norman Clisch, Pastor, to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
