Harold G. Nichols

Harold G. Nichols, age 85, of Caspian, MI, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the Iron River Care Center. He was born July 18, 1929 in Lansing, MI, the son of the late William and Nellie (Blood) Nichols. He was a self-employed auctioneer for over 45 years and later worked at Ski Brule. Harold married the former Patrecia Wright March 11, 1950 in Shaftsburg, MI, and the couple celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary in 1994. Patrecia preceded him in death on October 19, 1994. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River and the St. Agnes Choir. He enjoyed carpentry work, gardening, and dancing with his special friend Rose. Harold is survived by his significant other, Rose Watt of Iron River; son, Shanrod (Jen Bunker) Nichols of Mackinac Island, MI; daughters, Nonnie Maki of Caspian, and Debora Stolberg of Plattsville, NE; brother, Lyle (JoAnn) Nichols of Williamston, MI; sister, Carrie Essenberg of Vista, CA; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Victoria Loveland and many brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 26, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, with Rev. Gregory Veneklase , Pastor, to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
