Harry Francis Simard, age 92, of Tipler, WI, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center, Iron Mountain, MI. He was born April 1, 1921, in Chassell, MI, the son of the late Henry and Mathilda (Geegeon) Simard. He attended the Green Bay Schools, graduating with the Class of 1940. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. Upon his discharge, he was employed by American Motors in Kenosha, WI, for many years, moving to Tipler, WI in 1967; retiring in 1975. He also managed apartments in Kenosha. Harry married the former Leona Noland in 1959; she preceded him in death in 1983. In 1985, he married Dorothy Graving-Pooley; she preceded him in death on March 9, 2005. He was a member of the American Legion Post #17 of Iron River, V.F.W. Post #3134 of Iron River, the D.A.V. and the St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as wintering in Arizona. Harry is survived by his step-son, Laron (Katherine) Beudahl of Watertown, SD; step-daughter, Patricia Hollatz of Tipler, WI; sisters, Pearl Barrette and Bernice Sahaid, both of Green Bay, WI; four grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; nine great, great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Chester, and sisters, Leia, Doris, Yvonne, Beatrice, Evelyn and Shirley. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2014 from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Martin Cemetery, Tipler, WI in in the spring. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the graveside.
