Mr. Harvey R. Ponozzo, Jr., 55, of Kaukauna, WI, formerly of Iron River, MI, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2005, at St. Vincent's Hospital, Green Bay, WI due to injuries sustained in an industrial accident while at work at the De Pere Foundry in De Pere, WI
He was born on November 23, 1949, in Stambaugh, MI, the son of Harvey and Elna (Norkoli) Ponozzo. He attended the Iron River Schools and graduated from Iron River High school in 1967. He attended Michigan Technological University to pursue his love for forestry. He worked in the family logging operation for many years until moving to Kaukauna, WI in 2004 where he was employed by De Pere Foundry as a diesel mechanic.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Iron River, Ml. Harvey enjoyed gardening and canning. He was known to be a generous person and his love for people showed in his constant smile. He always was the first to arrive at family gatherings so he could greet the other family members and friends.
Survived by his parents, Harvey and Elna Ponozzo of Iron River, MI; fiancé, Darlene Verbeten of Kaukauna, WI; son, Clinton Ponozzo of Titusville, FL; daughters, Stacy (Dale) Daugherty of Marquette, MI, Carrie (Chris) Heike of De Pere, WI, and Stefanie Ponozzo of Monroeville, NJ; brothers, Greg Ponozzo of De Pere, WI, Dennis (Nancy) Ponozzo of Iron River, MI, and Randy (Sheri) Ponozzo of Iron River, MI; sisters, Cheryl (Larry) Smith of Iron Mountain, MI and Bonnie Minor of Green Bay, WI; two grandchildren, Chase Heike and Donovan Ponozzo; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins and extended family.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 6, 2005, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Iron River, Ml.
Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church in Iron River, MI with the Rev. John Fish to officiate.
Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River, MI
