Helyne V. Burns

Helyne V. Burns, 96, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. She was born on March 21, 1928, in Caspian, MI, the daughter of the late Walter and Lillian (Heikkila) Osterlund. She attended the Stambaugh Schools and graduated. Helyne married William Burns in Tucson, AZ in 1975 and he preceded her in death on October 15, 1997 after 22 years of marriage. She was employed as a secretary for American Airlines. Helyne was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Iron River and was active in the Rachel Circle at church. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting, reading, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and gardening. Helyne is survived by her daughters, Sally Helgeson of Iron River, Patricia (Ron) Meyer of Caspian, MI, Judy (Nik) Bergquist of Tucson, AZ, and Susan (Arvid) Hallstrom of Hot Springs Village, AR; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Barinotti of Menasha, WI; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was also preceded in death by her son, Larry Barinotti; brother, Walter Osterlund; half-brothers, George and John Sanderlin; granddaughter, Keri Nordstrom; and great-grandson, Jordan Vassar.
