Herbert A. Henschel

Herbert ""Herb"" A. Henschel, age 86 of Iron River, MI died Sat. February 28, 2009 at the Iron River Care Center, Iron River surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 26, 1922 in Engadine, Michigan son of the late August and Pauline (Marcus) Henschel. He married Joyce Leppanen on April 15, 1946 in Engadine and moved to Iron River. They were married 62 years and have four children. He worked for Wenos Lumber Company for a time and then worked 17 years in the local Homer and Homer Wauseca mines. When the mines closed he worked for Prentice Loaders and then took a job with the City of Iron River until his retirement. He was an excellent mechanic. He loved spending time with his family and friends and especially enjoyed the hunting camp named Henschels Paint Lake Social Club. He spent many memorable days with family, friends and fellow hunters. He was an avid outdoorsman. He was also preceded in death by brothers Albert, Ernest, Ferdinand and Harvey and by sisters Alvina Harkey and Agnes Brown. He is survived by his wife; Joyce, his children; daughter Donna (James) Nocerini, sons; Michael (Margaret ) Henschel, Mark Henschel and Dennis (Cathy) Henschel, sisters; Ethel McGee and Goldie Schmidt. 12 grandchildren; James Nocerini, Cindy (Christopher) Dingell, Christopher (Stephanie) Nocerini, Lisa Nocerini, Jill (James) Caruso, Kerry (Brian) Allenberg, Craig (Tracy) Henschel, Elizabeth (Brandtd) Kessler, Kyle Henschel, Kady Henschel, Jeffrey (Tricia) Henschel and Chelsey Henschel. 14 great grandchildren; Taylor, Gabrielle, Daniel, Claudia, Beth, Michael, Ellis, Jenna, Brandon, Justin, Amberlee, Brady, Ashley and Carson and many nieces and nephews. Visitation: Tuesday March 3, 2009 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Service: Tuesday March 3, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
