Herbert "Herb" N. Green

Herbert “Herb” Green, age 58, of Gaastra, MI, formerly, a longtime resident of Hingham, MA, passed away unexpectedly, after a brief illness, on Monday, January 15, 2018 at his home. He was born June 2, 1959 in Weymouth, MA, the son of the late Robert and Estelle (Lindsey) Green. He attended and graduated from the Hingham High School, with the Class of 1977. He then went on to attend Culinary School at Newbuy College, earning his Associate’s Degree.   He was employed as a chef in the restaurant and bakery industry for over 20 years. He was a member of the U.P. River Church, as well as the Worship Leader there. Herb loved praising God and any ministry related activities. He was an organizer of the Thanksgiving Dinner, and he enjoyed playing music and was an avid New England Patriots fan. Herb is survived by his brother, Brian Green of Hingham, MA; sisters, Juanita (Rev. Michael) Dickinson of Big Flats, NY, Karen Green of Weymouth, MA and Linda Green of Hingham, MA; stepsons, Col. Ed (Matt) Yackel of San Antonio, TX and Mike (Joni) Yackel of Crystal Falls, MI; stepdaughters, Carla (Oliver) Grossman of Albania and Katie (Lucas) Glanc of Waterford, MI; step grandchildren, Carver, Charlotte, Bradley and Daniel; former wife, Pastor Dawn E. Robbins; nephews, Ryan and Bryce Scottron, Noah, Kevin and David Dickinson; nieces, Kara Ihedigbo, Lindsey Cox and Hannah Dickinson; as well as many great nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.     In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert R. Green, Jr. and sister, Norma Scottron. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the U.P. River Church of Iron River, with Pastor James Pellizzer to officiate.
