Homer A. Darrell, age 73, of Alvin, WI, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014 at his home in Beaverton, AL. He was born February 11, 1941 in Alvin, WI, the son of the late Virgil and Rita (Stapleton) Darrell. He attended the Elvoy School in Alvin and Iron River High School. Homer married the former Barbara Wagner on September 26, 1959. Homer retired as an Oiler in Department 842 at the Chrysler Plant in Kenosha, WI. Following his retirement, the couple made their home in Alvin, WI, and in later years they spent their winters in Alabama. He was a member of the UAW, Big 4 Sportsman’s Club, Somers Rod and Gun Club, and the Beaverton Baptist Church in Beaverton, AL. Homer enjoyed everything to do with the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and outdoors man, enjoying fishing, hunting, and trap shooting. Homer especially enjoyed spending time with his family and storytelling with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Homer is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Darrell; children, Debra (Kevin) Knight, Laurie (Oliver) Rhudy, and Alan Darrell; grandchildren, Stacy Knight, Oliver Rhudy, Kilea Darrell, and Tyler Darrell; great grandchildren, Shane and Allie Rhudy; sisters, Gladys Whitt of Crandon, WI, Delores Donathan and Etta Mae (Don) Hack both of Peru, IN, Elma Cook and Loretta Darrell both of Alvin, WI, and Marie Wynne of Coarsegold, CA; brother, George Darrell of Iron River, MI; uncle, Elwood “Woody” Stapleton of Alvin, WI; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Visitation will be held Monday, August 25, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Little White Church of Alvin, WI. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Alvin, WI.
