Howard “ Jim” J. Madson, 87, of Watersmeet, MI, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Northstar Health System, Iron River, MI. He was born October 17, 1926 in Merrill, WI, the son of the late Carl and Catherine (Hansen) Madson. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Jim married the former Sylvia Scheu on April 12, 1947 in Merrill, WI. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in 2002. Sylvia preceded him in death on April 5, 2003. He was employed as a welder at the White Pine Mine and Nagel’s Lumber Company. Jim was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church of Land O’ Lakes, WI, and the American Legion. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and four-wheeling. Jim is survived by his daughters, Bunny (John) Sjogren of Gladstone, MI, Linda (Kim) Clouse of Rapid River, MI, and Kay (Sieg) Lenk of Wausau, WI; sisters, Ellen Peters of Missouri, Rosalie Williams of Aurora, IL, and Joyce Lagerbloom of Wausau, WI; eight grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Nancee Sullivan, brother, Darwin Madson, and sister, Ann Michaels. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church of Land O’ Lakes, WI. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the Hope Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary Albert to officiate. Interment will be in Watersmeet Township Cemetery.
