Howard C. Wilkins

Howard ""Chuck"" Wilkins, age 87, Iron River, MI died Monday, June 23, 2008 at the Iron River Care Center, Iron River. Born: May 2, 1921 in Joliet, IL The son of the late Howard and Minnie (Schoultz) Wilkins attended the Joliet schools. Following high school, he joined the US Army Air Corp, serving during WWII. Howard married the former Virginia Lindberg in 1943 in Lawrenceville, IL and the couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year. He was employed by the East Joliet Elgin Railway for 22 years and later worked for Joliet Township High School in Joliet, retiring in 1981. The couple then moved from Joliet to Iron River to make their home. Howard was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Iron River, He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved doing ""fix-it"" jobs for people. He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Wilkins on November 10, 2005 and a sister, Dorothy. He is survived by his wife Virginia Two son; Gary D.
