Irene L. Waino

Irene L. Waino, age 91, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Aspirus Iron River Hospital with her family by her side. She was born on May 12, 1927 in Lily, WI, the daughter of the late William and Lena (Priem) Schultz.  She attended the Lily School System. Irene married John G. Waino on April 1, 1947 in Wakefield, MI.  The couple then made their home in Beechwood, MI.  She and John celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary in 1979 before his unexpected passing later that year. She was last employed as an assembler at Coleman Products for 10 years.  She enjoyed knitting, going to the casino, spending time at her home in Beechwood, and especially spending time with her family and grandchildren.  Irene is survived by her son, Jay (Kathy) Waino of Suamico, WI; daughter, Joy (Glen) Koski of Iron River; four grandchildren, Amber, Travis, Mikko, and Allie; four step grandchildren, Zachary, Shyanne, Isaiah, and Tiffani; three great grandchildren, Weston, Cash, and Madden; two step great grandchildren, Dominic and Noah; extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Joan Waino; son, John W. Waino; brothers, Gerald, Ivan, and Harold Schultz; and sister, Isabel Gibbons. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Beechwood Hall.  Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery in the spring.
