Irma L. Mathews

Irma L. Mathews, age 87, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. She was born on January 22, 1935, in Stambaugh, MI, the daughter of the late Joseph and Elisa (Columba) Bonel. She attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating with the class of 1953. Irma married Harry Mathews on July 30, 1955, in Caspian, MI. The couple celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary in 1997. Harry preceded her in death on December 13, 1997. She was employed as an assembler at Coleman Products until closure and then at Connor Sports Flooring. Irma loved her children and grandchildren. She was a very hard worker and loved spoiling her grandchildren. Irma is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Rick) Erickson of Iron River, MI; grandchildren, Amy (Al) Dahl, Sarah (Jeremy) Nocerini, Eden (John) Tusa, and Sawyer Gossel; great grandchildren, Ashley (Toni Costantini) Mathews, Owen Tusa, and Aurora Dahl; great great granddaughter, Avah Costantini; brother, Julius Bonel of Iron River, MI; sister, Rose Rankinen of Iron River, MI; nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was also preceded in death by her son, Vern Mathews, and an infant son and daughter, Katherine Gossel. Private family services will be held.
