Jack R. Bomaster Age 87 Caspian, MIDied Sunday, January 23, 2011 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, MI. Born: October 31, 1923 in Gaastra, MI The son of the late Ernest and Doris (Gallup) Bomaster attended the Iron River schools, graduating from Iron River High School. Following his graduation, he served in the CCC's (Civilian Conservation Corp.) for one year. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Jack married the former Ann Formolo on January 9, 1943 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian, and the couple were lifelong residents. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this year. He was employed by the M.A. Hanna Mining company in the local mines for 36 years prior to his retirement. Jack was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, where he served as an usher for many years and belonged to the Holy Name Men. He served as Caspian City Commissioner and on the boards of Caspian Progressive Men, Caspian Housing Authority, Caspian Industrial Board, and Caspian TV Cable. He was also a member of M.A. Hanna Retirement Association, the Coffee Klutchers Organization, and an Iron County Museum volunteer. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, and carving totem poles. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Pike and Susan Trudell and one brother, Lloyd Bomaster. He is survived by his wife, Ann Son, Dan (Lois) Bomaster of South Windsor, CT Daughter, Bonnie Bomaster (fiance, Larry Barinotti) of Iron River Two brothers; Chester (Betty) Bomaster of Indianapolis, IN Jay Bomaster of Albuquerque, NM Three sisters; Dorothy Wilkenson of Watsonville, CA Gloria Wilkenson of Watsonville, CA Rita Smedlund of Watsonville, CA Five grandchildren; Stacey (Travis) Moore Greg (Meredith) Schneider Jacqueline (John) Gorborino Cindy Bomaster Ryan Bomaster Four great grandchildren; Keegan Kremer Jared Gorborino Jonah Gorborino Julia Gorborino Nieces, nephews and extended family Visitation: Visitation Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian. Funeral Service: Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian, with Rev. Norman Clisch, Pastor, to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment: Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron RiverThe West Side Veterans Council will accord Military Rites at the graveside service in the Spring. The family suggests memorial donation be made to the Iron County Museum Association. Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
