Jack N. Phillips

Jack N. Phillips, age 80 of 135 Gibson Lake Road, Crystal Falls, MI, died Sunday, December 21, 2008 at the Veterans Medical Center, Iron Mountain, MI. Born: August 8, 1928 in Iron Mountain, MI The son of the late Arvid and Saima (Rantala) Phillips attended the Crystal Falls schools. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He married the former Hilda Ester Ketola on May 29, 1954 at the Bethany Lutheran Church, Amasa, MI and the couple made their home at Gibson Lake. They celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this year. Jack was a heavy equipment operator and lumberjack throughout his life. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He had a heart of gold for family and friends. Jack was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, Amasa. He was also preceded in death by a son Kenneth and a sister Laverne. He is survived by his wife Hilda Son, Michael (Patty) Phillips of Allendale, MI Daughters; LuAnn Phillips of Crystal Falls Kathi Phillips of Crystal Falls Township Brothers; Earl Phillips of Huntley, IL James Phillips of Fena, NM Sisters; Saima Phillips of New Mexico Marion Phillips of Covington, MI 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild Visitation: Saturday, December 27, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, Amasa. Memorial Services: Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, Amasa with the Rev. Kevin Kaiser to officiate. Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
