Jack R. Schultz

Jack R. Schultz, age 91, of Crystal Falls, MI, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024. He was born on September 21, 1932, in Melrose Park, IL, the son of the late Paul and Charlotte (Evans) Schultz. Jack attended the Elmhurst, IL schools, graduating from York High School. He was a veteran of the US Army. Jack married Sara Stoltz (née Lewis) on July 28, 1979, at Pentoga Park on Chicagoan Lake. They celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary in 2023. He was employed as an insurance salesman, real estate agent and sales seminar leader. Jack was a member of Grace Covenant Church in Iron River, where he served on various boards and as chairman of the congregation and sang in the choir. Jack was a member of Kiwanis International and Rotary Club and volunteered with the UP Championship Rodeo. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and boating. Jack also enjoyed writing and wrote the “Our Neck of the Northwoods” newspaper column for many years. Family was most important to Jack, especially being a grandfather. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jack is survived by his wife, Sara; sons, Kurt (Jessica) Schultz of Kirkland, WA, Brett (Joan) Schultz of Grayslake, IL, and Kevin (Kristy) Stoltz of Hillman, MI; daughters, Heidi Schultz of Lindenhurst, IL and Katherine (Michael) Day of Gaylord, MI; brother, Paul (Cathy) Schultz of Elmhurst, IL; grandchildren, Lauren (Vince) Perovic, Corinne Schultz, Stephanie (Rob) Soule, Sandra (Gary) Herschell, Aaron (Kayleigh), Jeremy (Alexa), and Bailee Day, Hunter, Jackson, Isabelle, Malachi, Abigail, Asher, and Ezekiel Stoltz, Ariel Brown and Ashley (Alex) Quinn; seven great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Joanne Pollack. A visitation will be on Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Covenant Church in Iron River. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mike Poindexter to officiate. The family suggests memorial gifts may be given to the Grace Covenant Church, 316 Jasper St., Iron River, MI 49935.
