Jacqueline “Jackie” A. Halada, age 73, of Long Lake, WI, passed away Friday, March 11, 2016 at her home. She was born July, 29, 1942 in Iron River, MI, the daughter of the late Jack and Grace (LaBine) Halada. She graduated from Florence High School and earned her Bachelor’s degree at Silver Lake College. She was a member of St. Norbert’s Catholic Church of Long Lake. Hobbies and crafts she enjoyed included knitting, sewing, fishing, gardening and spending time with her grandkids. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sitting by the lake –watching the loons and listening to the frogs. She also had a true passion for figure skating, at which she was very gifted. Jackie worked hard her whole life, starting out with the family mink ranch-eventually taking over the family business. During that same time, she worked for Pine River Lumber. Later on she worked at the Florence County Courthouse and the Post Office in Long Lake. Jackie was also an active member of the community. For many years she served as the clerk for the Town of Long Lake, and was a member of the Florence County Human Services Committee, Housing Board, and Historical Society. Jackie is survived by her son William (Jenny) Behrmann of Long Lake, WI; brothers, Larry (Linda) Halada of Long Lake and John (Cyndy) Halada of Long Lake; sisters, Marlene Carmitchell of Green Bay, WI, Geraldine (Wayne) Pagel of Green Bay, and JoAnn “Gracie” (Dan) Hannigan of Menominee, MI; grandchildren, Billy, Logan, Haley, and Corbin; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her brother, Alan Halada and sister, Frances Halada. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2016 from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. at St. Norbert’s Catholic Church of Long Lake. Funeral Services will follow at 3 p.m. with Father Felix Penetrante to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
