James Gurchinoff

James Gurchinoff, age 84, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson in Iron Mountain, MI. He was born on July 22, 1938, in Stambaugh, MI, the son of the late Stephen and Rose (Kanevcevich) Gurchinoff. James attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating with the class of 1956. He later attended Michigan Technological University for forestry. James was a US Air Force Veteran. James married Diana Autio on January 15, 1994, in Riverside, CA. The couple celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary this year. He was employed as a forester for the Keweenaw Land Association. James was a member St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing. James is survived by his wife, Diana; son, Jeffrey (Brenda) Gurchinoff of Kingsford, MI; daughter, Joyce (Michael) Sealander of Sayner, WI; stepsons, Tony Brenes of Iron River, MI and Darryl Brenes of Green Bay , WI; stepdaughter, Cheryl Brenes of Los Angeles, CA; brother, Tom (Mary Ann) Gurchinoff of Dollar Bay, MI; sisters, Pauline Jagemann of Manitowoc, WI and Louise Williams of Casselberry, FL; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Martin Gurchinoff; brothers, Stanley, George, Leo, Peter, Steven, and Donald Gurchinoff and sisters, Leona Benson and Sylvia Esbrook. A prayer service will be held on Friday June 16, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River with Fr. Daniel Fosu to officiate.
