James L. Hawke

James “Jay” L. Hawke, age 85, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the Iron River Care Center. He was born on November 26, 1935 in Gaastra, MI, the son of the late Robert E. and Marciel (Moger) Hawke. He was employed as a hair stylist on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, IL for many years. He also worked as a teacher’s aide in a preschool in Arizona before retiring. Jay was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Iron River. He enjoyed gardening and flowers. Jay is survived by his nephew, Michael E. Hawke of Iron River, MI; nieces, Susan (Michael) Bilski of Gaastra, MI and Kelly (Dr. Frederick) Saigh of Crystal Falls; many great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Darryl “Dean” Hawke; nephew, Robert K. Hawke; and niece, Jennifer Hawke. Private services will be held.
