James R. Haydon Sr.

James ""Bob"" Haydon Sr. Age 84 Gaastra, MI Passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013 at his home. He was born on December 16, 1928 in Iron River, MI., son of the late James and Theresa (Murphy) Haydon attended the Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School in 1946. Following graduation, he attended St. Norbert 's College. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Bob married the former Maxine ""Micki"" Vicenzi on September 25, 1954 at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River and the couple were lifelong residents of the area. They celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in 2012. He was the owner/operator of Haydon Gas and Oil Company for over 35 years; owner/operator Trav-lures Motel for 17 years and was employed by West Iron County Public Schools retiring in 1996. Bob was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, serving as usher, altar server, Eucharistic Minister and the prison ministry. He was Exulted Ruler of the Iron River Elks Lodge and also District Vice President and Deputy of the Elks. He was also a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus and a member of Alfred Branchini American Legion Post #17. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at his camp. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, his grandchildren, and his great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph Patrick, and sister, Jean Wicklund. He is survived by his wife, Micki Sons, Jim (Betty Clements) Haydon of Iron River John (Becky) Haydon of River Falls, WI Jeff (Dina) Haydon of Pinckney, MI Daughters, Karen (Dr. Don) Patton of Iron River Kim (Al) Anderson of Grafton, WI Katie (Bob) Hartline of Cedarburg, WI Thirteen grandchildren Four great grandchildren Visitation: Tuesday, January 15, 2013 from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus will form an honor guard at the visitation Funeral Service: Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Iron River, with Fr. Norman Clisch to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment: Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River in the spring with the West Side Veterans to accord Military Rites.
