James “Jimmy” L. Newhouse, age 60, of Gaastra, MI, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. He was born August 26, 1961, in Ann Arbor, MI, the son of James Newhouse and Dorothy (Wood) Rindfuss. Jimmy loved to listen to music and play the harmonica, play chess (online and in-person), watch his favorite tv shows, especially Survivor, and was an avid hunter with three consecutive successful hunter patches. Even though he was paralyzed in May of 1982, he always looked forward and strived to be an example of what a person can become no matter the cards they are dealt. Jimmy set an excellent example with his positivity and encouragement. He is greatly loved and will be missed. Jimmy is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Rocky Farley; brothers, Steven Newhouse and James Johnson; pop, Steve Rindfuss; father, James Newhouse; beloved nephew, Jerry and Julie Farley and great nephew, Rocky Lee and great nieces, Abby and Lucy; beloved niece, Jennifer Farley and Joe Brozak and great nephews, Shane McPherson and fiancé Shelby with a baby on the way, and Matthew McPherson and great niece, Kailyn McPherson; as well as many other nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. A funeral will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Rocky Farley to officiate. Interment will be in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton, MI.
