James L. Newhouse

James L. Newhouse, age 86, of Caspian, MI, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024. He was born on January 30, 1938, in Detroit, MI, the son of the late Morton and Sarah (Lake) Newhouse. James graduated from Willow Run High School in Ypsilanti, MI with the class of 1955 and attended Cleary College. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. James married Cheryl Lorencz on November 9, 1979, in Wayne, MI. They celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in 2019. Cheryl preceded him in death in 2020. He was employed in sales for the University of Michigan. James was a member Cornerstone Bible Church in Iron River. He enjoyed playing football, baseball, and bocce ball. James also enjoyed tantalizing cuisine, fishing, and his faithful dog, Angel Rose. His favorite song was Amazing Grace. James is survived by his son, Steven Newhouse of Gaastra, MI; daughter, Pamila (Rocky) Farley of Gaastra, MI; grandchildren, Jennifer Farley and Jerry (Julie) Farley; great-grandchildren, Rocky, Abby, and Lucy Farley and Shane (Shelby) and Matthew McPherson, Kailyn (Levi) Davis; great-great-grandchildren, Colby and Cayson McPherson and Amara and Maylee Davis; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was also preceded in death by his son, James “Jimmy” Newhouse; daughter-in-law, Annette Newhouse; brothers, Roloh and Frank Newhouse and Dave and Vern McCarty; and sisters, Harriet Mitchell, Mary Crest, and Betty Bauer. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Cornerstone Bible Church with Pastor Rocky Farley to officiate.
