James R. Pellizzer, age 90, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2019 at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, MI. He was born on February 25, 1929 in Loretto, MI, the son of Peter and Rose (Meneguzzo) Pellizzer. James attended the Stambaugh Schools. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. James married Ruth Pellizzer on October 31, 1959 at the Assembly of God Church in Iron River. The couple celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in 2018. He was employed as a miner for M.A. Hannah Co. for 32 years. James was a member of the U.P. River Church in Iron River, and the American Legion Alfred Branchini Post #17. James enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was a very handy man. He loved going to McDonald's with the coffee clutch and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. James is survived by his wife, Ruth; sons, James (Sheri) Pellizzer, David (Joy) Pellizzer, and Dan (Shari) Pellizzer, all of Iron River, MI, and Jason (Karla) Pellizzer of MS; 11 grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ronald (Mildred) Olson of New Berlin, WI; sister-in-law, Doris (Knox) Salonen of Milwaukee,WI., and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Pellizzer, and sisters, Lena Delago and Mary Marinello. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 from 9:30-10:45am at the UP River Church. A memorial service will follow at 11 am with Rev. James Pellizzer to officiate. Interment will be in the Iron River Cemetery.
