James A. Schoeb, age, 93, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Aspirus Iron River Hospital. He was born on May 22, 1928, in Fordson, MI, the son of the late Victor and Catherine (Frank) Schoeb. He attended and graduated from the Fordson Schools. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving for a time in Germany. James married the former Janet Pivonka on May 21, 1955, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Gaastra. The couple celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in 2013, before Janet preceded him in death on May 15, 2014. He was employed as a telephone equipment installer by Western Electric for over 34 years, retiring in 1986. Following his retirement, the couple relocated to the Iron River area to make their home. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian, and served as a volunteer at the fire departments in Chippewa Falls, WI, Brookfield, WI, and Stambaugh, MI. James enjoyed repairing clocks, working on needlepoint, going for walks, and attending church. He was also a Green Bay Packer fan and Detroit Tigers fan. James is survived by his brother-in-law, Donald (Shirley) Pivonka of Aurora, WI; sister-in-law, Sally Kora of Ovid, MI; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Louis Schoeb and his sister, Magdalen Richter. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Members of the Iron County Firemen's Association and other firefighters will hold a pass and review at 9:30 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, with Rev. Ronald Timock to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery.
