James R. Serena Age 65 103 Highview Dr. Iron River, MI passed away Monday February 19, 2007 at his home. Jim was born on September 21, 1941, in Iron River, the son of the late Ferdinand and Margaret (Pakula) Serena. He attended school in Watersmeet from the first thorough the twelfth grade, graduating from Watersmeet High School in 1960 and from the Heavy Equipment School in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1961. He married Charlotte F. Dewald Williams on December 23, 1972, at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River. The family resided in Iron River where he was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church & former member of the Iron River Elks Lodge #1671. Jim worked in construction from 1962 until he retired in 1999 after thirty years with A. Lindberg & Sons. Prior to that he worked for Caspian Construction & Proksch Construction. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 324. Jim's most treasured his family who he dearly loved and of whom he was very proud and devoted to. Second only to his family was his love of animals, especially dogs. He was a skilled sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing in the beautiful Northwoods which he so appreciated. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Don Edward Williams in 1988, and many aunts & uncles. He is survived by his wife; Charlotte son; Jason Serena, Belleville, MI daughter; Francesca (Nathan) Economy, Iron River, MI. step-daughter: Linda (Dick) Koenig, Gaastra, MI granddaughter; Alicia Koenig, Gaastra, MI. sister; Barbara Serena, Iron River, MI aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews Visitation: Thursday February 22, 2007 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. in the Gathering Room, St. Agnes Catholic Church, Iron River, MI. The Parish Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Funeral Service: Thursday February 22, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church with the Rev. Aloysius Hasenberg to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment; Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River, MI. Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River, MI.
