Mr. James C. Shovald Age 71 Iron River, MI Passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2007 after a brief illness, surrounded by his family. He was born October 24, 1935 in Stambaugh, MI, to the late Clyde and Margaret (Olson) Shovald. He was a life long resident of the area and graduated from the Iron River High School in 1955. After graduation, he worked with his father at Shovald Sales and Service, selling and repairing some of the first T.V.'s in the area. He later operated a Moto Ski snowmobile dealership at the same, bottom of Stambaugh hill location. He continued his employment with Fairmont Foods as a truck driver, and then as a bus driver for West Iron County Public Schools. He then worked for 26 years for the City of Iron River until his retirement in 2001. James married Sally Tarsi on June 6, 1959 at St. Agnes Catholic Church and the couple made their home in Iron River. The couple celebrated their 47th Anniversary in June of 2006. Jim loved to fish, going to hunting camp, and being in the presence of his family and many friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a generous, loving heart. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and his laugh will be sadly missed by many. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, and retired fireman of the Iron River Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his sister Jeanne Lois Shovald in October 2006. He is survived by his wife Sally Two sons, Mark (Gayle) Shovald, Iron River, MI Dane (Janine) Shovald, Iron River, MI One daughter, Debra (Ron) Lewis, Balsam Lake, WI One brother, Robert (Arlene) Shovald, Salida, CO One sister, Lynn (Ray) Coates Seven grandchildren, Joe (Krista) Shovald Michelle (Rob) Axford Jacob and Rachel Lewis Cory, Kendall, and Lucas Shovald Four great grandchildren, Cameron, Sophia, and Duke Shovald Lauren Axford Many special nieces and nephews Visitation: Friday, February 2, 2007 from 9:00 to 11:45 a.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River, MI. The Iron County Fireman's Association will have a walk through at 10:00 a.m. Funeral Services: Friday, February 2, 2007 at 12:00 noon at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Rev. Otto Sartorelli to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Pallbearers will be his grandsons Joe and Cory Shovald, and Jacob Lewis, brother-in-law Ray Coates, and lifelong friends Terry and David Tarsi.
