Mrs. Janet M. Lindstrom, age 98 of Iron River, MI died Sunday November 30, 2008 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, MI Born: April 6, 1910 in St. James, Minnesota Janet was the daughter of the late Rev. Joseph and Helena (Barron) Rankin. She attended the Stambaugh schools and graduated with the class of 1928. She married Lawrence Lindstrom on September 6, 1930 in the home of her parents in Stambaugh. The couple made their home in Stambaugh Township and celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. Lawrence preceded her in death May 17, 2000. Janet and her sister June Phillips operated the Country Kitchen restaurant. After Janet's husband Lawrence closed the Farmer's Mart in Iron River, Janet operated the Pickle Barrel Country Store at that location. She also assisted her husband in the operation of the potato farm on M-73 Stambaugh Township. She operated a fabric and yarn store and was known for making and selling Aunt Jennie's Pasties. After retirement the couple wintered many years in Florida. She was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church. Janet was the last remaining of her high school graduating class, a 38-year cancer survivor, the last of her siblings and also the last of the initial 10 residents of Victorian Heights. She was also preceded in death by sons Lawrence Jr., Jay and Bruce; brothers Wallace and Douglas Rankin, and sisters June Phillips, Dorothy Bowen, Marcella Fletcher,Josephine Laing and Voris Boyd. Survived by son, Thomas Lindstrom, Thailand Daughter, Sandra Tegge, Iron River, MI Daughter-in-law, Dolores Argentati Lindstrom, Lansing, MI Sister-in-law, Lunette Rankin, Summerville, SC Special former son-in-law, Richard Tegge,Crystal Falls, MI. Five granddaughters, eight grandsons, and 16 great grandchildren Numerous nieces and nephews Visitation: Tuesday December 2, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Service: Wednesday December 3, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Iron River, MI with the Rev. Dawn Treado-Green to officiate. Interment: Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River, MI Pallbearers: Richard Tegge Jr., Mark, John, Jeff and Charles Lindstrom and David Rayala.
