Janet R. Schoeb

Janet R. Schoeb, age 79, of Iron River, MI, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Marquette General Hospital, Marquette, MI. She was born August 19, 1934 in Stambaugh, MI, the daughter of the late Edward and Carrie (Anderson) Pivonka. She attended the Stambaugh schools, graduating from Stambaugh High School. She then attended telegraph school in Crawfordsville, IN, and went to work for Western Union in Manitowoc, WI. Janet married James A. Schoeb on May 21, 1955 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Gaastra. The couple celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2005. They moved to the Iron River area following James' retirement in 1988. Janet was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian. She enjoyed knitting, taking care of her home, and spending time with her husband. She is survived by her husband, James, brother, Donald (Shirley) Pivonka of Aurora, WI, and sister, Sally Kora of Ovid, MI. She was preceded in death by her brother, Albert Pivonka, sister, Darlene Pivonka, and brother-in-law, Richard Kora. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 9:30 to 10:40 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 20th at 11 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
