Janet E. Stanchina

Janet E. Stanchina, age 79, of Caspian, MI, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, MI. She was born January 6, 1935 in Stambaugh, MI, the daughter of the late Luigi and Eleanor (Dahlgren) Gaspari. She attended the Bates and Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School with the Class of 1953. Janet married Paul Stanchina on May 12, 1956 at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Stambaugh, MI, and the couple were lifelong residents of the area. Paul preceded her in death in 2004. She was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian, and enjoyed antiquing. Janet is survived by her sons, Steven (Erin) Stanchina of Anchorage, AK, Gregory (Sylvia) Stanchina of Houston, TX, and Stewart Stanchina of Caspian; brother, Bradley (Pat) Nicholson of Sutherlin, OR; sister, Sally Sherry of Colorado Springs, CO; four grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Pauline Milliman, and brother, Larry Nicholson.Private family services will be held.
