Jean V. Piwarski

Jean V. Piwarski, age 92 of Gaastra, MI, died Friday, October 8, 2010 at Sunrise Cottages Hospice, Rochester, MN. Born: April 16, 1918 in Iron River, MI. The daughter of the late Victor and Martha (Kreger) Zaiki attended the Stambaugh Schools and graduated from Stambaugh High School. Jean married John G. Piwarski on August 13, 1937 at Assumption Catholic Church in Iron River and the couple were lifelong residents of the area. The couple celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1987. John preceded her in death in 1987. Jean was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian, the Rosary Sodality and St. Ann's Society. She also served on the Iron County HUD Board, She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Leo, Donald and John, and sister, Bernice as well as two great grandchildren, Nick and Zack. She is survived by two sons; Jerome (Linda) Piwarski of Perry, KS James Piwarski of Waterford, MI Daughter, Joan (Robert) Nowicki of Rochester, MN Brother, Robert (Elaine) Zaiki of Ishpeming, MI Sister, Marie Helgemo of Gaastra Five grandchildren Eleven great grandchildren Nieces, nephews and extended family Visitation: Wednesday October 13, 2010 from 9:00a.m. to 10:30a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral Service: Wednesday October 13, 2010 at 11:00a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian, with Rev. Norman Clisch, Pastor to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
