Jere F. Fritsche, 82, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, WI.
He was born on April 2, 1943, in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, the son of the late Francis and Reeta (Wescher) Fritsche. He attended the Iron River Schools, graduating with the Class of 1961.
Jere married Janet Schwark on September 21, 1968, at the episcopal church in Geneseo, IL. They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in 2024.
He was worked as a plumber with his father and uncle at the family-owned Iron River Plumbing and Heating. Jere was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. He also served on the Iron River City Council and several church boards and was very active with organizations in the community. In his spare time, Jere enjoyed building models, woodworking, crossword puzzles, archery, cooking and baking, working in his yard, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jere is survived by his wife, Janet; son, John (Joanne) Fritsche and Jere Fritsche, Jr., both of Iron River; daughter, Jane Fritsche-Flourre of Gwinn, MI; grandchildren, Kevin Fritsche, Rebecca Hansen, Kameron Fritsche, Sydney Flourre, and Ashlyn Flourre; great-grandchildren, Nash Fritsche and Sadie Grace Hansen; brother-in-law, James Schwark of Iron River; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, James Fritsche.
Private family services will be held.
