Jerome P. Bemis

Jerome P. Bemis, age 84, of Marquette, MI, formerly of Iron River, MI, passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at the D. J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette, MI. He was born on May 20, 1937 in Florence, WI, the son of the late Charles and Lena (Rucinski) Bemis. Jerome attended the Stambaugh Schools and graduated. Jerome was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Jerome married the former Ona Hobart on June 29, 1975 and the couple celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary in 2010. Ona preceded him in death on April 19, 2011. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling. Jerome is survived by his brother, Martin Bemis of Iron River, MI; sisters, Kathleen Bemis of Iron River, MI, Margaret Dosch of Milwaukee, WI, and Sue (Jim) Swift of North Carolina; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Patrick, Mark, Allen, and James Bemis; and sisters, Ellen Bemis and Sister Mary Marlene Bemis. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 7, 2021 from 9:00 to 10:00 am at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. A Liturgy of the Word service will follow at 10am with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River, MI where the West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the graveside.
