Jerry F. Butler, age 79, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021 at the Aspirus Iron River Hospital. He was born on September 5, 1941 in Ironton, OH, the son of the late Benjamin and Patricia (White) Butler. Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and the Army National Guard. Jerry married Carol Marcell on November 23, 1967 in Wayne, MI. The couple celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary in 2015. Carol preceded him in death on December 21, 2015. He was employed on the road maintenance crew for MDOT. Jerry was a member of The American Legion Reino Post #21, the VFW Ottawa Post #3134, and the West Side Veterans Honor Guard. He enjoyed playing pool and baseball in his younger days and recently learned the game of bocce ball. Jerry also enjoyed playing cards, going to walks, and photography. Jerry is survived by his daughters, Holly (Joseph) Kangas of Caspian, Erin Butler of Iron River, MI, and Meagan Butler of Iron River; two grandchildren, Kaitlin (Joshua) Bain and Benjamin (Kiana Pete) Davis; great grandchildren, Jayce, Skylar, and Joshua Dale Bain and Adaline Davis; sister, Patricia (Miki) Fujii; brother, Charles (Sue) Minor; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Rita Brock and sister and brother-in-law, Toni and Doyle Bradford. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the graveside on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 11:30am at Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River, MI.
