Jerry W. McMahon, age 88, of Iron River, MI, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Northstar Health System of Iron River. He was born September 20, 1926 in Ashland, WI, the son of the late Thomas and Arline (Thiese). He attended the Iron River High School, graduating with the Class of 1944. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater. He owned and operated McMahon Brothers Construction from 1953 to 2008. Jerry married the former Rosetta Spencer on April 12, 1952 at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, and the couple made their home in Bates Township. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2012. Rosetta preceded him in death on April 22, 2012. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and attended St. Agnes Church. He enjoyed playing baseball and played football for the Iron County Steelers and 4th Armored Division. Jerry is survived by his brother, Michael (Marie) McMahon of Pickett, WI, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family who brought great love to him and his wife. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jim, Thomas, and Patrick McMahon. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 9, 2015 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral Services will follow at 11 a.m., with Deacon Robert Kostka to officiate. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the service. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Alvin, WI.
