Joan C. Marcell

Joan C. Marcell, age 66 of Iron River, MI, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at her home. She was born September 28, 1943 in Stambaugh, MI. The daughter of the late George and Jane (Rivard) Gehlhoff attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating from Stambaugh High School in 1961. Joan married William ""Bill"" Marcell on August 29, 1964 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian and the couple were lifelong residents of Iron/Dickinson County area. They celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in 2009. Joan worked with her husband in the sales industry for many years. She loved spending time at ""The Point"" at Stanley Lake and especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Bill; children, Jenny Marcell of Iron River and her children, DJ and Aspen, Stanley Marcell (Cheri Hinshaw) of Iron River, and his children Devon, Zach, and Mariah, and her children Cassi and Brady, and Claire Marcell (Chris Gotstein) of Norway and his daughter Chloe; three brothers, Ronnie (Bonnie) Gehlhoff of Stevensville, MI, David (Jean) Gehlhoff of De Pere, WI, and Kenny Gehlhoff; three sisters, Judy (Jerry) Thier of Green Bay, WI, Jackie (Johnnie) Waite of Iron River, and Julie Esbrook of Iron River; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 4, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 5, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian, with Rev. George Maki to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Pallbearers will be Stanley, Devon, and Zach Marcell, DJ Powell, Johnnie Waite, and David Gehlhoff. Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
