Joan H. Rometti

Joan H. Rometti, age 92, of Iron River, MI, passed away Monday, July 18, 2016 at the Iron River Care Center. Joan was born January 1, 1924 in Iron River, MI, the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Gendzwill) Hoinowski.  She attended the Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School with the Class of 1941. Joan married Herman Rometti on March 21, 1942 at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River and the couple were lifelong residents of the area.  They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1992.  Herman preceded her in death in September 1992. Joan was in sales with Stanley Products for many years.   She was a member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church, St. Agnes Altar Society, and Women’s Aglow.  She enjoyed gardening.  Joan is survived by her sons, Edward (Dorothy) Rometti of Gaastra, and Marvin (Sharon) Rometti of Iron RiverI; sister, Roselma Walters of Walla Walla , WA; five grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; three great, great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Steve, Wallace, Bernard, Robert, and Conrad Hoinowski and sisters, Nettie Phillips, Laura Melchiori, Lucy Nicholson, Irene Piscovich, Elizabeth Peterson, Geraldine Artwich, and Martina Jones. Visitation will be held Friday, July 22, 2016 from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.  A Prayer Service will follow at 10 a.m. with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to officiate.
