Joan M. Stevens

September 14, 1926 — October 17, 2020

Joan Marie (McEvoy) Stevens, age 94, formerly of Waterbury CT., entered eternal rest Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020 at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba, MI. after a short illness. Joan was born September 14, 1926 in Waterbury, CT., the only child of the late John C. and Josephine (Conlan) McEvoy of Waterbury. She graduated from Wilby High School and spent her younger life living in Waterbury, while raising her son, John (“Jack”). She was proud that her father had been a career lieutenant in the Waterbury Fire Department. Joan was employed in the banking industry her entire working career in Waterbury. A woman of strong Catholic faith, she regularly attended mass at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. Joan was a beloved member of the Conlan family, enjoying countless gatherings and holidays at the Waterbury home of her Uncle Ebbie and Aunt Mary Conlan throughout her life. Joan spent her retirement years with her son, Jack in El Paso, Texas. After the sudden passing of her son, Joan joined her cousin, Mary (Conlan) Hall in Iron River, MI. She became a resident of Bishop Noa Home, Escanaba in 2011, where she continued to share her spunk, quick wit and spirit with those around her. She will be fondly remembered for her impeccable manners, Irish lilt and twinkle in her eyes while she shared her life stories, often over tea and something sweet. Joan was predeceased by her parents, her son, John Michael “Jack” Stevens, uncle and aunt, Ebbie and Mary Conlan, and cousin, Mary (Conlan) Hall. Left to cherish her stories are cousins: Ned (Joyce) Conlan of Oakville, CT., Pierce (Barbara) Conlan of Naples, FL., Terri (Joe) Graziosa of CO., Kristen (Tim) Caldwell of CO., Patricia (Shanan) Conlan of VA., Don (Donna) Hall of CT., Elizabeth (John) Burmeister of PA., Catherine Hall of WI., Margaret (Peter) Cipriano of N.Y., Ed (Melissa) Hall of N.C., Mary Louise (Paul) Stemen of WI., and guardian, Rosemary Burns of WI. Joan will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery, El Paso, TX., with her son, as she wished. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Joan M.
