Joanna Rombouts, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on May 7, 2009, at the St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson, MD. She had made her home for the past several years with her daughter, Peggy and family in Owings Mills, MD. Joanna was born on August 1, 1924 in Iron River, MI to the late Edward and Maryanna (Popko) Pozniak. She graduated from Iron River High School in 1942. During the War years, she worked at the former Angeli and Cybulski grocery stores. Joanna married Jack Rombouts upon his return from military service at the Assumption Church in Iron River. They moved to East Lansing, MI, where Jack pursued his studies in higher education. They also lived in Holland, MI, Sault Ste Marie, and Marquette. When Jack retired, he and Joanna returned to Iron River. Joanna was a member of the St. Agnes parish and a member of the former Assumption parish. She was also a member of the St. Agnes Altar Society and the Rosary Sodality. A woman of wide-ranging interests and abilities, Joanna was an organic gardener, an artist and an avid reader throughout her life. She is survived by three children; Jack (Mary) Rombouts of Marquette, MI Stephen (Diane) Rombouts of Loretto, PA Peggy (Jim) Angelone of Owings Mills, MD Four grandchildren; Frederick and Christine Rombouts Jack and Lily Angelone Sister, Helen Czapiga Many nieces, nephews and cousins She was preceded in death by her husband Jack; brothers Alexander ""Alex"", Stephen ""Steve"" and infant brother Edward; sisters Delores Boden, Stella Wilgreen and Bernice Hewlett, all of Iron River, and infant sisters Maryann and Julianna. Joanna's family will receive visitors on June 10, 2009 beginning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church gathering room A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on June10, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. by the Rev. Norman Clisch at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Iron River. The ladies of the Rosary Sodality will attend the mass and form an honor guard. Interment will take place at the Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River. Joanna was generous and caring toward others throughout her life.
