John V. Allen

John V. Allen of Gaastra, MI, formerly of Sheffield, IL, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2014 in Marquette, MI. He was 57. John was born to John E. and Virginia (Kratz) Allen on May 20, 1957 at Dyess Air Force Base, Abilene, TX. He married Connie Pease in Princeton, IL, March 16, 1979. She survives. John graduated with an Associates of Arts degree in Mechanical/Technical Engineering in 1992 from IVCC. After he graduated he worked for many years in Mendota, IL at ABC, designing and building grain conveyers. He then moved to Gaastra, MI in 2004. He enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, spending time with his grandkids, and taking rides with his buddy Rufus! He is survived by a daughter, Brandie (Nick) Johnson of Iron River, MI; two sons, Jason (Shana) Allen of Princeton, IL and Jeremy (Blythe Maltas) Allen of Malden, IL; grandchildren, Amya, Aiden, and Rylee Johnson of Iron River, MI, Samantha, Scott, and Brent Neahring of Princeton, IL and Connor Maltas of Malden, IL; his mother and a sister, Susan (Andrew) Coble both of Iron River also survive. He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, James Allen; his grandparents, Oris and Susie Allen, John Kratz and Cloie Rieck. A celebration of John’s life will be held at the Caspian-Gaastra Fire Hall on Saturday, August 23, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Caspian, MI.
