John C. Banks

John C. Banks, 83, Caspian, MI, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the Iron River Care Center. He was born April 30, 1929 in Iron River, the son of the late Theodore and Evelyn (Johnson) Banks. He attended the Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School. He retired from the Iron County Road Commission in 1991. John married the former Donna Hebert on March 22, 1985 in Appleton, WI, and the couple celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary this year. John was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Iron River and the Operating Engineers Union. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ted Banks. He is survived by his wife, Donna; children, John C. (Patty) Banks Jr. of Redlands, CA, Charles (Connie) Banks of Cadillac, MI, Floyd (Donna) Banks of Appleton, WI, Marilyn Banks of Naples, FL and Nik Knauer of Reading, PA; sisters, Laura (Harold) Carlson of Florence, AZ and Margaret (Michael) Henschel of Iron River; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2013 from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, with Pastor James Nephew to officiate. Interment will be in the Stambaugh Cemetery in the spring.
