John A. Johnson

John “Jack” A. Johnson, age 88, of Alvin, WI passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022. He was born on February 25, 1934 in Iron River, MI, the son of the late John and Nellie (Jenkins) Johnson. Jack was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and served in the Korean War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. Jack married Sally May on October 1, 1955 in Iron River. They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this year. Jack was a road construction truck driver. He was a member of the VFW Ottawa Post #3134 and The American Legion Alfred Branchini Post #17. Jack loved the outdoors, hunting and spending time at his camp. He also enjoyed traveling with Sally and was a hard-working family man who was always willing to help others. He is survived by his wife, Sally; son, Donald (Kathleen) Johnson of Alvin, WI; brothers, Robert (Sandy) Johnson and David (Leann) Johnson, both of Caspian, MI; sister, Betty Nyquist of Gladstone, MI and Pauline (Robert) Bohachek of MN; grandchildren, Courtney Johnson, Jackie Johnson, Scott Johnson, and Heather Coates; great grandchildren, Jack Johnson, Isaiah Johnson, Trinity Johnson, Hailey Coates, and Hannah Coates; faithful dog, Sampson; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Johnson; brother, William Johnson; sister, Lila Johnson; brother -in-law, William Nyquist; and nephew, Curtis Nyquist.
