John W. Lack, age 80 of Iron River, MI died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at his home. Born: June 19, 1928 in Woodridge, IL John attended the Chicago, IL schools and graduated. He was a U.S. Navy Signal Corp veteran. He was employed as a meat cutter for Jewel Foods of Chicago prior to his retirement in 1987. After retirement, he moved to the Iron River area to make his home in Bates Township. John was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian and the Carpenters Union. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening and was an avid dog lover. He especially loved his two Siberian huskies, Nook-Nook and Mush -Mush. He was preceded in death by his brothers Ed, Joe, and Frank. He is survived by nieces, nephews, and close friend, Jim Nelson of Iron River. Visitation: Thursday, March 19, 2009 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian. Funeral Service: Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian, with Rev. Norman Clisch, pastor, to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment: Bates Township Cemetery, Iron River The West Side Veterans will accord military rites at the graveside service in the spring. Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
