John Lekatz

John Lekatz, age 95, Bates Township, Iron River, MI died Monday, March 24, 2008 at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans, Marquette, MI. Born : January 6, 1913 in Crosby, MN The son of the late Louis and Anna (Petrlic) Lekatz moved to this area from Crosby, MN as a young boy. He attended the Bates and Iron River schools, graduating from Iron River High School in 1932. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of WWII. After the service, he returned to Iron River and was engaged in logging for many years. John loved the woods and gardening. He was a hunter and fisherman. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Emil Lekatz and sisters; Mary Johnson and Helen Castille. He is survived by his brother, Joseph (Elaine) Lekatz of Iron River Sisters; Josephine Eldridge of Round Lake, IL Mildred Kulis of Naples, FL Ann Harper of North Lake, IL Many nieces and nephews Graveside Services and Interment to be held in the Spring at Bates Township Cemetery, Iron River with the West Side Veterans to accord Military Rites.
