John W. Roberts

John W. Roberts, 70, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on April 29, 1956, in Spies Location of Iron River, the son of the late Dean and Elizabeth “Betty” (Martinucci) Roberts. He attended the Iron River Schools, graduating from West Iron County with the Class of 1975.

John married Patricia Gross on July 17, 1976, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River. They celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary in 2023. Patricia preceded her in death on January 16, 2024.

John lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. He had a quick wit, a generous heart, and a special knack for making everyone laugh. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including fishing, hunting, spending time with family, dancing, and the companionship of his beloved dog.

He was also preceded in death by his in-laws, Joan and Theodore Gibneski; brother-in-law, Ted Gibneski; and nephew, Jeffrey Evanoff.

John is survived by his sons, John and Tim Roberts, both of Iron River; sister, Dolly (John) Cimarelli of Iron River; uncle, Eugene (Mary) Martinucci of Kingsford, MI; aunt, Carol Roberts of Janesville, WI; sister-in-law, Bonnie (Larry) Evanoff of Caspian, MI; nephew, Michael (Teresa) Cimarelli; nieces, Kristie (Bob) Lindberg and Jodi Evanoff; great nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.

Private family services were held.
