John W. Waino, age 65, of Green Bay, WI, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016. He was born on May 30, 1950 to John Gust Waino and Irene (Schultz) Waino . He grew up in Beechwood and attended school in Iron River. He later joined the U.S. Navy served with the Sea-Bees running heavy equipment. He served in Panama during the Vietnam era. After the service he moved to the Green Bay area and worked in construction many years as a member of the Operating Engineers Local 139, retiring in 2014. He was also a member of the American Legion Reino Post #21 of Stambaugh. John was a very generous person and earned the name “Santa Claus”. Nobody ever went hungry or thirsty when John was around. He was always ready and willing to help anyone in need. He had such a big belly laugh that you couldn’t help but smile and laugh with him. John is survived by his mother, Irene Waino of Beechwood; daughter, Tiffani Quade of De Pere, WI; son, Isaiah Quade of Laona, WI; grandson, Dominic of which he was so proud; brother, Jay (Kathy) Waino of Suamico. WI; sister Joy (Glen) Koski of Iron River; two nieces, Amber and Allie; two nephews, Travis and Mikko; three great nephews, Weston, Cash, and Madden. He was preceded in death by his father, John, and sister, Joan. Visitation will be held Friday, May 20, 2016 from 9:30 to 10:45 at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dawn Treado to officiate. Interment will be in in Resthaven Cemetery. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the graveside.
