Joseph A. Lambert, Jr., age 80, of Iron River, MI, passed away Monday, October 23, 2017 at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. He was born December 16, 1936 in Stambaugh, MI, the son of the late Joseph A. Lambert, Sr. and Mildred (Routheaux) Lambert. He joined the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War, stationed in Guam during his tour of duty. Joseph served his country from January 1954 until October 1957 and earned the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He participated in the September 4, 2014 Honor Flight. Joseph married Mae Alice Scuffham on June 20, 1959 at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Stambaugh, Michigan. The couple celebrated 58 wonderful years together this summer. He was employed in the local area mines before accepting a position at the West Iron County Public Schools, as a custodian and bus driver. He was a former member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge #1671. He enjoyed anything that took place outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, camping, golfing, hosting bonfires and cutting the grass. He especially loved spending quality time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and attending their sporting events. He was also an avid Detroit Red Wings and Green Bay Packers fan. Joseph is survived by his wife, Mae Alice; sons, Daniel (Carrie) Lambert of Manistique, MI, and Thomas (Cathy) Lambert of Lindenhurst, IL; daughters, Cathleen Eiben of Manistee, MI, Debra (Gary) Mason of Dryden, MI and Linda Lambert (Steven Hill) of Iron River, MI; sisters, Eileen (Tom) Hendrickson of Madison, WI, Donna (Larry) Campbell of Springfield, TN; sister-in-law, Shirley Lambert of Iron River, MI; brother-in-law, Kyme (Kathy) Scuffham of Peoria, IL; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandsons and 1 new great granddaughter, born in the early morning of October 24, 2017; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to his parents and step-father, Eddie Richards, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Lambert; father and mother-in-law, Clyde and Lorraine Scuffham and brother-in-law, James Scuffham. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at St. Agnes Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to: The West Iron County Athletic Booster Club at P.O.
